Question by Enceladus: How do I clean my wall mounted air conditioner?

I live in Japan, and my air conditioner hasn’t been heating very well recently. Sometimes it shuts off by itself, but today, it just hasn’t been giving warm air. I have a feeling that the filter needs to be replaced. It’s a rather standard wall mounted air conditioner made by Mitsubishi that is common in Japanese apartments. Any ideas?

I don’t live in Japan, and it doesn’t look like I can make it over there today, but the filter would be behind a panel with all the air slots stamped in it – the one panel that does not have hot air blowing out of it. The panel should pull straight out, or it may need to be lifted up half an inch or so to lift it off the hangers before it will pull off. I wish I knew what type of fuel you burn in it as this could give some additional clues as to why it shuts off prematuraly. Good luck.

clean the filter, turn it on spray water in the outside vents,
gentley so you don,t bend the fins,
use a spray bottle spray water into the front fins,

It sounds like you should start with the routine maintenance. You can check out the ductless ac page at my source. You will find what maintenance needs done and also a troubleshooting guide if you need further assistance.
