Mourning Dove

I saw the nest in the morning and then returned when I knew I’d have the afternoon sun and bright light reflecting off the wall. The sunlight enters from the right side. Any light from the left is from the wall.

The bird is nesting on a bicycle frame hanging outside.

The blurry dark band behind it is the tire. If you look closely in her eye, you can see the shadow of the bike.

I was less than two feet away from the bird when I shot this. They’re very docile. You can get really close if you move slowly.

I’ll try to return in a few weeks when the chicks hatch. That should be an interesting shot.
